Today I’ve read following words by Lin Wood:
“Since I am imperfect, I am not always right. But I will continue to do the best I can to find and convey truth to you.”
Although Lin had other intention to state this, for me it reminds the concept of being true to yourself, true to your very nature - as a life value of a crucial matter.
“(...) be true to life by being true to Your inner purpose.” (Eckhart Tolle, New Earth)
Long ago “to be yourself” I’d found not much but a cliché catchphrase. But over the time I’ve realized that the way I tent to live (follow my bliss, engage in my passion) is in fact essential for me: it became more and more clear that it’s even my personal ambition to always be aware of Who really am I? and then to constantly follow this awareness. I’ve realized how much satisfaction I can gain (especially Big Picture-wise, meaning: looking at my life from a perspective) “simply” by being myself and grounding myself within this particular kind of beingness. To reach the highest precision possible in defining knowing myself (Who am I? and Who I want to be?) and live accordingly to all those discoveries - those are nice challenges :) . It still surprises me how much satisfaction it can give.
But the very important drive here is the ambition - the feeling that I want, I desire “to pursue myself” - recognizing this desire deeply inside of me, my entity, my essence. This is the truth, such approach to life in which You are really Yourself, at least to the highest degree available for You at the moment. This is why I also could say that “I will continue to do the best I can to find and convey truth [to other people as well as to me myself].” - by being the most genuine (You might say) version of myself. Remind You of those words by Neale Donald Walsch (Conversations with God (Book 2)):
“Life can be a process of creation or reaction.”
But there is more to this story: the benefit You can gain while You take such approach to life. The benefit, in my opinion, is that by “being true to yourself” You become fully open to Your highest purpose, the purpose of Your presence here and now. I believe such a purpose exists - and it is kept in the safest place possible: within the God’s/the Universe’s hands. The shape of Your essence - who You really are, what Your desires, predispositions and talents are - has been defined prior to Your life on Earth, as Your “goal”, the optimal way for You to live. This is also the only way which can provide You with maximum satisfaction, energy and enthusiasm through life. But if You are not aware of this guidance (Your “built-in” destiny), if You don’t pursue it - You are partially separated from the driving Source behind All That Exists, taking every avenue but not the one which has been dedicated for You and for You only. If You, however, do follow Your inner guidance, listen carefully to Your Inner Voice on a daily basis - You become more and more capable to conduct the God’s will, the Universe’s plan toward You. As in those words:
“Feel yourself being an opening through which energy flows from the unmanifested Source of all life through you for the benefit of all.” (Eckhart Tolle, New Earth)
